  1. Technology the loss of “Human”ology….
In the past couple of months I have been coming to the startling reality, much like Morpheus, that we are all in a dream like state of being. I noticed that my husband and I would go to eat and our conversations would revolve around something glowing from our tightly clutched devices in our hands. Then we would both disappear into the light, much like a bug heading towards their untimely doom on a summer’s night. We would then come out of our stupor and again comment on something read or discovered while intently staring at the square tumor held tightly within our hands. Having been married for over 30 years I thought, is this what the “rest of our lives” is all about? Are we losing touch with each other? I decided to try to remove the tumor from my life. It was akin to taking Chemo, letting go.
I began to grow more aware….. I watched as my grown children had the same tumors growing on them. I watched as my grandchildren played and interacted as we all referred to our tumors for information. A trip to New York with coworkers was the final awakening. It was the awareness that I needed to slowly move towards a LESS technological world. As we rode through the subway trying to navigate through the city to our prospective meetings, not one of my coworkers talked to a human. We were continually lost, and it took me-in my semi-awake mode of life awareness, to ask the people around us where the places were. It was through human interactions, not technology that we found our destinations. This happened multiple times.
I say we are fighting an aggressive deadly disease that is slowly sucking the soul of humanity from us. Make a pact today to wean yourself from the cell phone drug and become a part of humanity again.
Next, to work on other technological addictions….it is going to be a long journey.
